The first step in our booking wizard is telling us who's coming to the spa! Accurate pet information helps us provide the best care, assign the right groomer, and give you an accurate pricing estimate.
Quick Overview
- Select one or more pets from your saved profiles.
- Add a new pet without leaving the booking flow.
- Your pet's size, weight, and coat type directly affect pricing and appointment duration.
- Vaccination status is checked automatically — expired records may need updating before you can book.
Choosing from Your Pet List
If you've already added pets to your profile, you'll see their cards on the first screen.
- Click a pet card to select them for this booking. A purple border and checkmark will appear.
- To book for multiple pets, simply click additional cards. You can select as many as you like!
- Click a selected card again to deselect it.
Each pet card shows their name, photo, breed, and vaccination status at a glance. Look for these indicators:
- Green checkmark (✅): All vaccinations are current. Ready to book!
- Yellow warning (⚠️): A vaccination is expiring soon. You can still book, but update records soon.
- Red alert (🔴): A required vaccination is expired or missing. You'll need to upload updated records before check-in.
Adding a New Pet
Is this a new furry family member? Click the "+ Add Pet" card to create their profile without leaving the booking flow.
You'll need to provide:
- Name: What do you call them?
- Species: Dog or Cat?
- Breed: Choose from our list of over 200 recognized breeds and designer mixes. If you have a mixed breed, select "Mixed Breed" and tell us the mix.
- Weight: An estimate is fine! This is important because it helps determine the right pricing tier, tub size, and appointment duration for your pet.
- Age or Birthday: Helps us tailor the grooming approach. Puppies and senior dogs may need gentler handling. (Date of adoption works too!)
- Coat type: Short, Medium, Long, Wire, Curly, Double, or Hairless. This helps us estimate grooming time — a curly-coated dog takes longer to dry and style than a short-coat breed.
How Pet Details Affect Your Booking
Your pet's profile isn't just for record-keeping — it directly shapes your booking experience:
| Detail | How It's Used |
|---|
| Weight | Determines which pricing tier applies (if the salon uses weight-based pricing). A 90 lb Golden Retriever costs more than a 10 lb Chihuahua for the same service. |
| Coat Type | Affects appointment duration and may include a coat-type adjustment to the price. Double-coated and curly-coated breeds typically require more grooming time. |
| Size | Determines which equipment is assigned (tub size, kennel size, drying station). Updated automatically based on weight. |
| Temperament | If you've noted that your pet is anxious or shy, the groomer will see this and can plan extra time and gentle handling. |
| Vaccinations | Required vaccinations must be current or the system will flag the booking and require updated records before check-in. |
🤖 Smart Feature: The pricing you see during booking automatically adapts to your pet's specific size and coat type. You'll see a personalized estimate rather than a generic starting price — so there are no surprises at checkout.
Multi-Pet Bookings
Booking multiple pets from the same household? Select them all on this screen. Benefits of multi-pet bookings:
- Same-day scheduling: The system automatically finds time slots that can accommodate all selected pets.
- Single checkout: One invoice for all services, making payment easier.
- Household discounts: If your salon offers multi-pet discounts, these are applied automatically at checkout.
Updating Pet Info Before Booking
If your pet's details have changed (e.g., weight gain/loss or a new coat condition), you can update their profile before booking:
- Go to My Pets in your account and edit the profile.
- In the booking flow, we display their current info so you can verify it's correct.
- Weight changes may shift their pricing tier — you'll see the updated estimate immediately.
Troubleshooting
- "I don't see my pet on the selection screen" — Make sure you've added them to your profile in My Pets. Archived or deceased pets won't appear in the booking flow.
- "The price seems higher than expected" — Check your pet's weight. If it's changed since the last visit, the pricing tier may have shifted. Coat-type adjustments can also affect the total.
- "I see a vaccine warning on my pet's card" — Upload updated vaccination records in My Pets > Vaccinations. You can still proceed with booking, but records must be current before check-in.
- "Can I book for someone else's pet?" — You can only book for pets linked to your account. If a friend wants you to book for their pet, they'll need to add you as an authorized contact on their account.
